Maui’s Sugar Cane Train is a relaxing, six-mile steam train journey through some of Maui’s most beautiful scenery. The journey includes colorful guided commentary, as well a trip across an old-fashioned trestle bridge. Tourists, train enthusiasts and those looking for a fun and different activity in Hawaii all gravitate to Maui’s Sugar Cane Train.
Most visitors to the Sugar Cane Train come for the views. With humorous narration from your local guide, passengers on the train learn about the sugar cane trade for which the train was originally built, the history of Hawaii and the natural environment around them. From December to April, you may see humpback whales as you round the curves above the sparkling ocean.
Thursday evenings are set aside for the Sugar Cane Railroad dinner train. Board the train at Puukolii Station and take a 30-minute guided journey, where you will disembark and be treated to a delicious buffet dinner, with a weekly featured ingredient. While you eat, enjoy a hula show and then return to Puukolii Station in style on the homeward leg of your journey.
The Sugar Cane Train is also available to rent for special events, such as weddings, receptions, and anniversaries. Make your even truly stand out by having it hosted on the Sugar Cane Train. You can also book a caterer for any dining events and have a delicious meal waiting for you at the end of the line. The train moves back and forth along a six-mile track that takes approximately a half an hour, and you can book a single trip with an event at the station or an extended train ride.
